Alki Beach

It was a beautiful sunny Sunday on 13 June, with wonderful warm weather, we got the idea to stroll along Alki Beach, which is located in West Seattle.

We spent the whole day sitting on the beach. Beautiful blue sky embraces the marvelous blue ocean, bright sun, Seattle famous Spaceneedle in the background, unknown sea birds flying over the tranquil surface of the ocean, cool sea wind hugs our face... with the gorgeous landscape, everyone was so enchanted by it. They lay on the beach, or sang, or talked, or laughed. Some families were doing BBQ, some young gays were playing beach volleyball. The sight of beach bears back the days when I had a good time in Beihai Silver Beach in my hometown China, except the sand there is more careful and white.

We were surprised with a lot of dogs, puppies and doggies in the seashore, in which prompt our thought of bringing our puppy Yong here next time. This is a wonderful place that allows the animals to roam nearby its beach, unlike most of other places.

On the way home at dusk, the changing vivid colors of the sunset fascinated our eye. It's been a simply lovely day!

Blood Type and Personality

My blood type is "B," which is high in Asiatic races.

In reading about the blood type and personality, I see that type B is goal oriented and strong minded. I have achieved my goal of coming to America. This is a goal that many have, but many do not succeed. My friends also say that I am strong minded, which means when I make up my mind, there are few things that will change my opinion.

The personality type states that I will start a task and contiue it until completed, and completed well. This is why I am studying English for so long. I want it to be perfect.

Type B's are also individualists of the blood group categories and find their own way in life. I am still an individual that continues to find my own way. This is why I go to my English classes!

All in all, my blood type really matches my personality.

Loving Eagles Is Loving Yourself!

The Eagles' three-hour performance on May 26 at KeyArena, Seattle. A great band from a great time in music history, which bringing back memories and touching the hearts of every generation, such as baby boomers, generation X, and so on.

What an amazing show! They are a truly fabulous band. I felt honored to be there with all of the crowd singing along. You can hear my voice! Although it's far less perfect, But I extremely love it. I sang with Tim Schmit "I Can't Tell You Why". Actually, I sang with them all night long: "Hotel California," "Peaceful Easy Feeling," " "Witchy Woman," "Lyin' Eyes""The Long Run," "Heartache Tonight," "Desperado" "take it easy"...

Speaking of Eagles, I recalled my American dream, which started from their song "Hotel California." when I was 18 listened to the record from my brother-in-law, who was dating my sister and gave that to me as a gift for my coming college. many years ago, when the time we still used gramophone to appreciate of music, I remembered the first time I listened to "Hotel California", I was totally shocked. I always wanted to go the place they sang "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave". What was it metaphor for ? It's so mysterious, illusional, and romantic.

It was my dream to come to America and see for myself. I am so proud that I am living my dream. I am in America now and could actually see the band that impressed me so much. To me, they represent the freedom and individualism one can express in the new world.

That night I was crazy for these phenomenal guys. All I could say was WOW!

Reinvent Yourself!

Every few years there is something new to learn. A new computer program or new theories. Being open to new ideas is critical to success in this fast paced world.

I enjoy gaining new knowledge and exposure to new ideas all my life!

Writing a letter to MR.President Obama

Hello,MR.President Obama
I'm from China. I have lived in the US 5 years. I became American citizen at 2008. America has been my home for 5 years.
I'm an ESL student at Renton Technical College. I work at Davita Dialysis clinic. My daughter is 15 year old. I came to US because there're more opportunities and I love America because there's more freedom.
I'm writing to you today ask you to support immigration reform. Immigrants are what this country is made of. We need reform to allow the immigrants who are living in the US to be able to live here in peace, and to have a reasonable pathway to becoming citizens.
I'm glad that Seattle is a sanctuary city for immigrants. But the need for a better pathway to citizenship still remains. This is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately.
Please help to to support immigration reform in this country. I and over 12 million other immigrants will be very grateful to you for taking concrete steps towards immigration reform. After all, we are all immigrants in this country.

Sincerely,

Lily

Protect Our Earth

A severe drought, which has a serious impact on people's lives and economic development, has begun in Southwest China. It is estimated that water scarcities at the drought's peak affected more than 20 million people, 10 million farm animals and billions of dollars worth of crops. Yes, our planet gives us everything we need, but natural resources are not infinite.

Fossil fuel such as coal, oil and natural gas, which were formed beneath the earth millions of years ago, are unrenewable resources. Because we depend immensely upon them, to conserve supplies of fossil fuels, scientists are testing alternative energy sources that can never be exhausted and will cause no pollution. It's also up to governments to outlay money into research and make strategic decisions for the future. But, there are great many small changes we can convert in our lifestyle, at the office and at home that keep burning less fuel.

Minerals are one of the major kinds of unrenewable resources that are vital for the construction, manufacturing and energy industries. Some are found in such abundance that we need not worry about while others are in shorter supply. Since it is important that the natural environment is protected from damage that may be caused by mineral extraction. To the factory owner, the word conservation means the reusing, recycling, or waste materials to make new goods; To us, reduce, reuse and recycle are important. We'd better to reduce the amount of stuff we buy and reuse things we already have. The last but not the least, Recycling possible for many household items. We may not be able to solve the landfill and polluted problems, anyway, we can at least help keep them from getting worse.

Timber and water renew themselves naturally. Fresh water is an important renewable resource. But the global demand for water is increasing and the destruction of water-dependent ecosystems, such as deforestation, has accelerated. Maybe this nature disaster, for instance the severe drought in China and in many places all over the world, is just a beginning warning to us. As the governments are taking some effects like forestation, irrigations, and so on to measure these, everyone individual should realize water crisis and use water-saving techniques.

It's time to think more about our earth! People need to respect the earth and try to preserve it. If not, what kind of future will we have?

Why I like To Eat Dim Sum

Dim sum, such as meat, seafood, vegetables, desserts and fruit, are usually served in a small steamer basket or on a small plate in the mornings until noon time at Chinese restaurants.

I'm a big fan of dim sum. It’s quite easy to find reasons. First, Dim sum is a Cantonese regional speciality. I happened to grow up Cantonese area. So I have eaten dim sum freqently since I was a little girl. Actually, I’ve tried a variety of dim sum.

Furthermore, Dim sum is appetizing and tasty. Lotus wrapped sticky rice, shrimp dumplings, steamed chicken claws and so on, all these dishes are good in color, flavor and taste at the same time. And every time, I never miss the opportunity to sample my favorite food as much as possible.

In addition, Dim sum is a delicious culinary adventure. Most restaurants offer over 100 different kind of food, and these small dishes are often inexpensive, which gives people an incentive to try new things.

In conclusion, Dim sum is my favorite dish. Please sample a variety of intriguing tastes and flavors, because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived!

My Best Friend

Friends play a very important part in everyone's life. Some friend offer you their shoulders to cry on; Other friends challenge your opinons or push you to try new things; Another friends offer their friendships and faith to cheer up with you. But my best friend Yuanyuan offers it all.

She's someone I can rely on. She knows me inside and outside. when I first moved here, She already settled in Seattle area, studying for The USMLE- United States Medical Licensing Exam. She helped me and gave me the best advice. I remembered after my first drive test failure, I told her I would never take the test again. She drove me to a quiet place and talked to me "Lily, I'm only a petite woman compare with you. I also fulled of fears when I practiced how to drive. Look, I'm driving now. If I can do it, you can do it too!" That encouraged me a lot, and I kept practicing, eventually I got my drive license.

She has a wonderful sense of humor. She always finds a way to handle every situation with her humor, even the bad ones. Because her husband discouraged to find a job, he has been studying on campus for 5 years. Sometimes, even his family and friends complained about him. She always told them be kind with every family members and friends. She said if her husband likes, he even can pursue his postdoctoral degree. She said it wasn't a perfect match a doctor and a postdoctor?

We are always talking or laughing about something. She always is warm-hearted and soft-spoken. We used to shopping a lot at mall. Sometimes it seemed like we hanging out together just sat and talked. After she moved to Baltimore for her three years residency training program, we always have talked to each other at least every two weeks. She is very active and calls me when I forget to call her every time.

As someone once said, "Life support comes from friends. " From that, we know friendship is the basic unit of a society. Because my friend and I have a deeper relationship, so I find the time that I spend with her to be very valuable.

Dr. Wang's Complaints

http://www.scribd.com/doc/30638058/DrWangComplaint

I was so shocked when I read these news.

Dr. Wang, Lishan, who has three little kids and his wife suffered cancer, was accused on Monday of fatally shooting a former colleague Dr. Toor, Valjinder.

Dr. Wang was fired in 2008. After dissmissal from Brooklyn hospital, Dr.Wang was unemployed. And Dr. Toor accept a post doctorate fellowship at the Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Dr.Wang sued Kingsbrook Medical Center on July 2009. In Dr. wang's lawsuit, he claimed that he was fired in 2008 because of his Chinese nationality background and that several doctors who were not Chinese had mistreated him. In the lawsuit, he said he was unfairly labeled excitable, emotional and unable to control his anger. "May 15, by accusing him of igonring pages and call from hospital staff while on duty. Dr.Valjinder told Dr. Wang that he had been looking for him for several hours in the afternoon...Dr. Wang attempted to defend himself again Dr. Valjinder's accusations by explaining that he had been working at the intensive care unit (ICU)..." Another issue is "On march 13, 2008, Dr. Wang was at work and not feeling well. Instead of allowing Dr.Wang to go home sick, they sent him to ER room for an examination... Dr. Toor came into the ER room and told the ER's Doctor to perform extra blood tests and unnecessary X-Ray on Dr. Wang...An hour after this heated discussion, Dr. Vajinder then accused Dr. Wang of threatening his safety by using hostile body language, although he did not summon security to assist him,” Dr. Wang’s lawsuit says, "Dr. Wang was ordered remain in a small room for the rest his shift and his shift ended at 9:00 PM that enening."

Then, Dr. wang complainted about Dr. Toor's interference, and Dr. Toor accused Dr. Wang of threatening him. The incident finally resulted in the dismissal of Dr. wang, only weeks after he filed a complaint with New York Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The lawsuit was still pending in the court.

Dr. Wang, Nowadays, is public enemy. I have no sympathies for him. But from his 89 points complaints, like several issues he stated, whether racial discrimination, prejudice or some doctors seemed to utilize their power to destroy his life. The board of directors in that hospital should have done something to stopping it years ago. If they had, the tragedy wouldn't be taken place!

Walking My Dog Makes Me Keep Fit!

This beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon, I took my dog Yong to an off leash Dog Park in my city, namely Cedar River Dog Park.

As soon as we arrived at the park, Yong wasted no time running around to meet the other dogs. Big dogs, small dogs, dogs that barked, dogs chased balls or carried sticks. All of these dogs, Yong went to meet and smelled them all. He really enjoyed it and made a lot friends soon after. He had so much fun and was so interested in everything. When he was getting thirsty, he ran to a water bowl and drank. One big dog picked up Yong as playmate, so they ran and played almost half an hour. On one occasion, the big dog stepped on Yong by accident. I heard Yong made a woof "Ouch", but they kept chasing and running again pretty soon. The big dog's owner felt sorry for that. I told him it was okay, cause they were good friends now. and my dog was a big dog's soul in a small dog's body. He could handle it! The owner told me his dog never ran so much like today, It seemed like my Yong made him run! Of course, my Yong has the make of an athlete, who also has kept me running all the time too!

I always like being outdoors with my loved one or with my dog, Walking my dog makes me keep fit!

Have You Ever Tried The New Light Rail?

My friend in Portland flew Seattle for her date this noon. Since it's my free day today, we planned to have lunch in Chinatown before her date.

Fearing parking in Seattle downtown, we decided to use Light Rail. I met her in Tukwila station, which she went from Sea-Tac airport station to downtown Seattle by way of. One thing that irks me is they don't put a station at my city, so I have to drive to the Tukwila station, which is on top of the hill.

We were excited on the way from Tukwila to downtown. This results in a maximum cost of $2.50 for a one-way trip. We could clearly see Mt.Rainier through the window. It just intrigued us how fast, comfortable and convenient light rail really is.

Got out light rail at International District, we ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant. And then we moved our feet on another light rail to Westlake station, which is in the heart of downtown Seattle's retail core. We, the two shopaholics, had an excuse to shopping here in a couple hours. And it was incredible, we still got attractive discounts from Macy's. My friend got a coat for $37.99, marked down from $199. To tell you the truth, this was my suggestion, because I believed if she wore the new coat instead of her ridiculous dress today, the magical "Avatar" blue would captivate the man's eye at his first sight tonight!

saying bye-bye to each other at 4 pm, I rode another light rail back to Tukwila station and drove my car home.

Heaven bless my friend, May all her hopes and dreams come true.

Ten-Year Anniversary!

Today was the 10th anniversary of the dialysis company I work with called DaVita. All of us got to celebrate by going on an Argosy Cruise around Elliott Bay of Seattle.

The weather was perfect with much sunshine and warmth. Inside the boat, everyone was happy, having drinks and later a perfect meal with spinach ravioli, chicken and salmon. All the administrators dressed up like pirates taking over the boat! The regional director had many compliments about our work, stating that we were first in the company to reduce catheter rates. We were excited with joy at the success! There was also a raffle for many prizes, including an I-Pod, a camera and a large flat screen television. No one could wait till took them home!

However, I did not have any luck because I didn't come home with any prizes. But my stomach was full and we spent an enjoyable day on the water overlooking downtown Seattle and Alki Beach.
